A CD Projekt Red executive has acknowledged that fans inflamed the debate surrounding the release of Cyberpunk 2077.
Cyberpunk 2077 faced a number of challenges when it first came out. Massive AI flaws, glitches, and game-breaking failures were encountered by players; things grew so bad that PlayStation was forced to remove the game from the PlayStation shop in December 2020.
However, in his reflections on the game’s launch, Michal Platkow-Gilewski, VP of PR and communication, addressed this apparent failure to GamesIndustry.biz. We’re all just remembering it incorrectly, and apparently it was “way better that it was received.”
In fact, according to Platkow-Gilewski, “Cyberpunk on launch was way better than it was received, and even the first reviews were positive.” “After then, disliking it became cool. Our rapid descent from hero to zero began. That was the difficult time. We had no idea what was going on. We were aware that the game is fantastic, that it can be improved, that it will take time, and that some things will need to be rebuilt.
It’s crucial to remember that the Platkow-Gilewski refers to good assessments were primarily written on computers. Even if there were still optimisation concerns, they were nothing compared to what was going on the consoles.
After that, Platkow-Gilewski addresses claims that the firm is overworked as a result of the several games and spin-offs planned for the upcoming few years, including Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty.
Platkow-Gilewski told GI.biz, “First of all, all of these initiatives are at different phases. It’s not that we are completing all of that at once since that would need a lot of labour. We are considering our long-term plan right now. Our intellectual properties are very important to us, and we wish to develop and produce games using them. We also want to make sure that we maintain our focus at all times.
We can only hope that CD Projekt Red has learned from its errors in hurriedly releasing Cyberpunk 2077 and will take the time necessary for its next titles to achieve better initial quality.
All of the Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty content that has been revealed so far looks great, with more detail and grunge than ever before and a brilliant new Night City that fans have never seen before.
