Wednesday marked the debut of the Redmi Note 12R in China. This is the first phone to utilize Qualcomm’s recently introduced Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC. It features a 5,000mAh battery and is available in four storage configurations and three color schemes. Recently, the phone was also discovered on the China Telecom website. In May of this year, a pro version of the device, the Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G with an octa-core Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset, was released.
Redmi Note 12R pricing, availability
Redmi Note 12R’s base 4GB + 128GB configuration costs CNY 999 (approximately Rs. 11,300), while the 6GB + 128GB configuration costs CNY 1,099 (approximately Rs. 12,300). The 8GB + 128GB model is priced at CNY 1,499 (approximately Rs. 17,000), while the 8GB + 256GB model is priced at CNY 1,699 (approximately Rs. 19,200). According to the China Telecom listing, the model will be available for purchase in China on June 30.
Three color options are available for the Redmi Note 12R: Midnight Black, Sky Fantasy, and Time Blue.

The Redmi Note 12R features a 6.79-inch, full-HD+ (2400 x 1080-pixel) IPS LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 550 nits of maximum luminosity. The dual nano SIM-capable smartphone ships with MIUI 14 based on Android 13.
It is the first smartphone in the world to utilize the 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC. The chipset is coupled with an Adreno GPU, up to 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of internal storage, with microSD card expansion.
The instruments of the Redmi Note 12R’s dual rear camera unit consist of a 50-megapixel sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a 2-megapixel sensor with a macro lens and an f/2.4 aperture. The centred hole-punch opening at the top of the screen houses an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Redmi Note 12R features a 5,000mAh battery with 18W wired quick charging support. The phone has a dust and water resistance rating of IP53 and a 3.5mm headphone port. It has a side-mounted biometric sensor and a facial unlock feature for security. The handset measures 168.6mm x 76.28mm x 8.17mm and weighs 199 grams.
