Apple unveiled its long-awaited AR headset at WWDC today, which consumers have anticipated for years. But what is the Apple Vision Pro’s price?
Early in 2024, Apple Vision Pro will be available for purchase at a price of $3,499.
In comparison, Meta announced last week that its Quest 3 will retail for $499, while its Quest 2 is priced at $299. However, Meta’s high-performance headgear debuted with a price tag of $1,499, though it appears to be available for $999 at a number of retailers.
Similar to the Meta Quest Pro, Apple is marketing this device for use in the workplace; its visionOS operates on the same framework as iOS and iPadOS, so it will be interoperable with a large number of existing applications. Apple has already stated that the headgear is compatible with Microsoft Office applications and video conferencing services such as WebEx and Zoom.
With micro-OLED displays, spatial audio, a 3D-like camera, and numerous other high-end features, it’s not surprising that the Apple Vision Pro is on the more expensive side. Therefore, it may be more suited for business users than regular consumers.
Unlike Meta’s headgear, Apple Vision Pro utilizes augmented reality rather than virtual reality. Augmented reality is less immersive than virtual reality, allowing users to benefit from the technology without being completely separated from their surroundings. In addition, the Apple Vision Pro employs hand tracking as a control, removing the need for distinct portable devices.
