WhatsApp has just announced a new feature named “Chat Lock” that will enable users to keep certain conversations private. The tool allows you to secure any conversation, storing it in a folder that is only accessible via biometrics, such as a fingerprint or facial scan or a valid password. This also conceals references to closed conversations from the notifications feed.
Locking a conversation seems straightforward. Simply touch the name of the conversation and select the lock option. If you wish to peruse the conversation, you must input a password or undergo a biometric scan. WhatsApp states that this is a fantastic feature for those who share phones with family members and wish to prevent mishaps when “someone else is holding your phone at the exact moment an extra special chat arrives.” If biometric authentication is your thing, you can also secure WhatsApp behind biometric authentication using these tools.
The developers of the popular messaging app say they are currently working on additional conversation Lock features, such as the ability to create a unique password for each conversation and a tool to lock discussions on multiple devices. Meta, WhatsApp’s parent company, has been extremely active in its efforts to maintain WhatsApp’s safety and reliability, as it has recently enhanced the verification system to thwart potential fraudsters and added more options to deal with disappearing messages. The Chat Lock features are now available to WhatsApp users.
